The Sturgeon River Campground & RV Resort is a Toy Haulers Paradise and your year-round center to all Northern Michigan has to offer! On one side of the resort is the Sturgeon River, famed trout stream and a beautiful river for canoeing, kayaking or float tubing. On the other side of the resort is the bike trail, or in winter months the snowmobile trail connecting you to Indian River, Gaylord and hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails. You can ride your ATV or motorcycle from your site directly to the trails. The wilderness Pigeon River Forest offers you hiking, cross county skiing, mushroom hunting, elk and wildlife viewing, trout fishing and family picnicking.
Leave your campsite or cabin and have direct access to over 100 miles of trails. More trails are a short drive away.
Ride miles of groomed trails through scenic Northern Michigan. You have direct access to the trails from Sturgeon River Campground. The main artery between Gaylord to Indian River and Mackinaw City is right out our entrance.
A short drive and you are in prime morel mushroom hunting areas. Haven't been able to pry out favorite spots from our guests, but you're guaranteed to enjoy the outdoors.
The Sturgeon River is know as an excellent Blue Ribbon Trout River or bring your boat and fish local lakes. Our catch and release barbless hook pond has Bass & Blue Gill for youngsters to fish. We provide a cleaning station for you convenience.
Fishing Report
When hunting, use Sturgeon River Campground as your Northern Michigan base camp and take a short drive to thousands of acres of state land. We provide a buck pole for your convenience.
Leave Sturgeon River Campground on your canoe or kayak for some of the finest canoeing in Northern Michigan. Not only are we located on the Sturgeon River but we are also within five miles of the Pigeon River as well as Burt and Mullett Lakes. We offer rental tubes for those who want a slower pace. We have extra canoes for our customers to rent.

We offer a short river walk. Keep your eyes open and you could see deer, fish, and a wide variety of birds in their natural habitat. Elk herd viewing is just a view miles away. Eagles, and Blue Herons have been spotted at our pond.
This beautiful 62-mile trail was newly resurfaced with crushed limestone in the fall of 2007. Most users' highlights will include the valley of the Sturgeon River and its tributaries right outside our campground, and the section north of Topinabee along the west side of Mullet Lake. Besides the terminal towns of Gaylord and Mackinaw City, Vanderbilt, Wolverine, Indian River, Topinabee, and Cheboygan also offer plenty of amenities.
